Extract of 1956 Minutes to the A.G.M.
(When Collegians' gets it's navy & maroon club colours ....)
PRESENT The Meeting was attended by 27 members of the club and Mr. J.V. Case from the
SA Rugby Union. Rev. H.A. Witt took the Chair.
APOLOGIES Messrs. C. Runge, S. Feldheim
ELECTION OF OFFICERS The following
were elected officers for the 1956 Season.
SUBSCRIPTIONS It was moved that the Committee be empowered to look into the whole
question of the Club's finances and if necessary raise the Subscriptions accordingly.
GROUNDS It was moved that the President be empowered to look into the possibility
of a ground being obtained by the club where a Clubhouse could be erected for the use of
members.
UNIFORMS The Secretary reported that at the Committee Meeting held on 7/2/56 it
was resolved that the Club colours be changed subject to the Motion being passed by the
AGM. The new colours to be:
Jerseys - Navy Blue and Maroon hooped with Maroon collars and cuffs
Socks - Navy Blue with Maroon tops.
After some discussion it was resolved that the new colours be adopted and that they be
submitted to the SA Rugby Union for approval and that a guarantee be obtained from the
Union that no other club will encroach on the colours. A design for a Blazer was
also submitted to the Meeting and it was adopted by the Meeting subject to the approval of
the other colours by the Union.
Blazer to be navy Blue with Brass Buttons, pocket as designed.
It was also moved that the Secretary issue orders for blazers so that only club members
will be able to get them.
COACHING JUNIOR TEAMS Mr. R. Cameron, former Coach of the Forbes School
Team, mentioned the importance of keeping this School Team going as it was still in its
infancy. He was supported by Rev. H.A. Witt who said that the Junior School Teams
must be kept going in all districts if Rugby is to develop in this State. He asked
that all club members who were able to assist in the coaching of these junior schools
teams.
