| Oh me lads you should have seen them
coming! Coming along the Greenhill Road, Just to see us scrumming. All the lads & lassies there, And all the smiling faces, Coming along the Greenhill Road, To see the Old Collegians! Oh me lads you should have seen them coming! Coming along the Greenhill Road, Just to see us running. All the lads & lassies there, And all the smiling faces, Coming along the Greenhill Road, To see the Old Collegians! |
The word 'coming' was originally 'ganging' and 'Away the Lads!' finished each stanza in the song written in 1972.

The Old Collegians' Club Song
was written in 1970 by David Quodling and Butch Wright.
The business college named is Oodla Wirra not Oodlawarra (as incorrectly
sung about over the years), named after a BP roadhouse at Oodla Wirra
acquired by David Bennett, a Collegians' player at the time the song was
composed.
| We are the Old Collegians', We come from cultured regions, Gentlemen of old school tie are we. For we know that it's essential, That we are residential, At a college or a university. Such as, The Oodla Wirra Business college, The two-up school at Queanbeyan, Can you catch or kick a football? You're an Old Collegian! And then we go to training, Unless of course it's raining, Or if the weather's fine, Or in between. For we know that if we show up, There's a chance that we might go up, To the unfit, fucked up, failing, fighting, First Fifteen! We are the boozing! Losing! Old Collegians', You might say that we're erratic. We only let the peasants win, To show that we are democratic! Collegians! |
There are a number of unofficial club songs. The Flower of Scotland, for instance, is a particular favourite of
Hamish Cranna's when in more maudlin mood, while 'I Used To Work in Chicago'
was sung by the
large influx of army players in the 1999 season. Trevor Kenny had a favourite in
Eskimo Nell - this song is not printed on this site for fear of corrupting some of our
younger members but can be linked to; if you have trouble getting all 64 stanzas
a copy can be sent to you. The Haka is here to satisfy the
club's Kiwi members .. and also because it's good.
The University
of Idaho Rugby Club have a general site with links. In the event they get
closed down I have a copy of the entire website. As well there is a good site with a
good search facility to be found at MudCat.
