Norman Jude

Norman Jude was patron of the club for 17 years from 1958 to 1975.

Norman Jude was made a Knight Bachelor in the Commonwealth list (together with Alexander Downer).
"Sir Norman Jude lives at Main North-East road, Walkerville.  He is a successful breeder of fat lambs and vealers in the South-East of SA and was a member of the council of the SA Stockowners Association for a number of years.
Born in Birmingham, England and educated at Stamford (Lincolnshire) and Roseworthy Agricultural College (SA) where he gained the Diploma in Agriculture, he entered the SA Legislative Council as a member for Southern District in 1944.
He has been a member of the Australian Transport Advisory Council for 11 years.  In 1961, he was a member of the Australian delegation to the conference of the World International Road Federation at Madrid.
In 1939, Sir Norman Jude established the South Eastern Fire Fighting Association and was its first president.
He has also been president of the SA Bush Fire-Fighting Associations.
Sir Norman Jude has represented SA in hockey and Rugby."

The family property was Poltalloch Bluff, near Narrung.  It was then run by their only son Bowman Jude, his wife and their two children who lived on the property.  As well they had twin daughters, Margaret & Felicity and a daughter Stephanie (married to Athol Grummett of Moolah in Victoria.

He was born 7 april 1905 at Handsworth, Staffordshire, England; son of Archie Alexander, engineer draftsman and Edith Susan, née Lane.  He arrived in SA in 1924.
(Note this conflicts with his place of birth being Birmingham as given in The Advertiser both in 1965 and in 1975 in his obituary)
