Doubles Free Keg for Competitors
$200 cash prize
On Sunday 21 May the same loyal faces who can
be found cluttered around our clubroom's pool table tracked to Ballroom
Billiards on the Parade, our sponsor, for our annual pool competition.
Knockout doubles was the order of the day. To be honest, the quality of
pool suffered thanks to the free beer provided by Ballroom Billiards and
also thanks to their exertions the night before; some competitors looked
fairly green despite the late afternoon start. Leighton "Taffy"
Edwards and Susan "Junior" Brooks took the $200 prize, defeating
Tara Naige and Richard Wells . A lucky star must have been shining on
Taffy and Junior. They had been knocked out in the first round by Jules
Knuckey and Jen Latte but won a wild card to play again against Ben Hamer
and Cat. After winning that match and then winning the rematch in the next
round against Jen and Jules, they found themselves in the final. Some
sloppy shots had Junior cringing, Taffy smacking himself in the head, and
Tara and Richard counting their dollars - but Taffy and Junior blitzed in
from 5 balls down to narrowly Tara and Richard who had only the black left
to pot. Well done to the winners, commiserations to the losers and thanks
to all for supporting their club and our generous sponsor - Ballroom
Billiards. ... KE

The 45 attendants enjoyed great weather, a
beautiful course, on-course refreshments and a gourmet barbecue. We’re
better golfers than you might think – 6 teams came in on or under par!
Our thanks go to Peter Denley, Ted Apted and Tara Naige for helping with
the organisation.
Congratulations to Peter Hawker and Jason Limpus’ mate Martin on
winning a magnum of Rockford’s red each in the raffles, and much
applause to the winning team of the afternoon’s Ambrose (including Andy
Farquharson and Cameron McDonald), coming in two under par.
And happy birthday to Pete Denley and Jason Limpus, who both
celebrated their birthdays on the day! ... Tregenza Times, February
2006
The golf day winners:
Andy Farquharson
Cameron McDonald
Craig McCallum
Mike Willis
2 under par (34)
Second place went to five teams, who came in on par (36).
