DIARY

WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Being a club where our players and our members exhibit a healthy tendency to wander off to foreign places, we can lose track of some of them at times.  And because of that, it would be good to know what our absent Old Collegians' are getting up to and good to get back in touch.

As it is we'll soon lose Ben Hamer & Cat to rugby in England;  Charlie Sheppeard is, or was, in England somewhere;  Rory Sheppard has sloped off possibly to the Greek Islands (but is rumoured to be back for the Finals); Jeremy Thewlis is heading off again after getting back early this year from his last trip; Stewart Douglas must be getting that wanderlust-feeling once more ... he's been back for at least a year; Barney Bloxham was last heard off in the back of a London taxi ... where are you?  Andrew Farquharson .. no idea where you are now;  Dave Watson ... are you back in Scotland?  David Pack last left a message for our last Final .... and there are loads more of you out there.  Let us know what you're up to.

You're all missed by our large host of club members & players ... at least by those who are still here.
It'd be good to hear from you, especially with the Finals coming up.
We do have a message board, although no prizes to one of our best women players for not knowing we did.

The Collegian's website had been down for most of the three weeks up to Anzac Day due to an attack on the data centre in the US where the site was located. The website has been relocated and has anew message board and, should anyone wish to use it, a new discussion forum.

HOUSES

The best house this year will win a free keg at the end of the year and the right to lord it over the rest of us. House points are awarded for (among other things) attendance at training, work at the working bee and prompt payment of subs. If you are named best player in your grade you also win extra points for your house. Yellow/red cards and other misconduct results in deductions of house points.

Green house is in the lead at the moment with 199 points, followed very closely by Gold (197) and Red (193). Blue is lagging behind with 178. Green’s lead is largely thanks to their excellent training record and the big effort Justin Elder put in at the working bee (they’d be miles ahead if it weren’t for a couple of yellow cards). Green house was also awarded 10 points last Saturday for its controversial victory of the boat race, while Gold house won 10 points for the arm wrestling thanks to the guns of Richard Czeglik and Alex Berce.

Each house is required to organise one home game function in 2008 and will be awarded bonus points if it is done well. Green house have a chance to extend their early lead when they throw us a party after the home games on 17 May. If you are in Green House, talk to your other house members and start the ball rolling.

Whenever you are unable to attend training please call one of the following to let us know:
- Graham Raymond (Head Coach) 0414 647 768
- Danny McCarten (Director of Rugby) 0412 849 004
- Club phone (after 6pm) 8379 4770
- Kath Cherry (Women’s team only) 0413 561 321
