Don Smith Medal Night

Rugby Games - September 13

16th August - 70s Night

70s Night!

Graham Raymond got up with the band and belted out a great rendition of Desperado. The typical array of 70's regalia was worn. If anyone has photos of our Punk Treasurer or Disco B-Rad, please email them to paul@oldcollegiansrugby.org.au. Thanks to the Gold House for a great night! And you slackers from Blue House? Thanks for nothin'!

Club Olympics

19 July – CLUBROOM OLYMPICS

Stay at the Club after our homes games against Uni and Brighton for Old Coll's version of the Olympics. It will be House against House in Table Soccer, Pool, Ping Pong, Wheel Barrow Racing and Buck Hunter, but with our own special "drinking rules".

There will be a BBQ dinner and we'll also be showing the Wallabies v South Africa on the big screen.

Curry cook-off

July 5th saw a return of the Collegians' curry cook-off.
Judges were Jim Jones, Candice, Ian Walker, Stewie and Jon Collins, as far as I could work out, unless they were just pretending to be as an excuse to eat and look important while doing so.
After some delay, due to the soporific sense of decisiveness shown by the judges, the winners were Ian Barwick for best curry and Ian Barrie for hottest curry.  There are loads of photos of the occasion in the picture gallery for July 5th.

Real judges?  Or imitations?

Just when Hamish thought he'd forgotten all about his old company, and Collegians' solid sponsor from the distant days of Alan Turin, his corporate jackets that have long lingered downstairs, have become fashion-items and were sported on the 5th of July by both Stewart Douglas & Ben Hamer.  As Hamish says, pity the company didn't last as long as the jackets.  Or was that 'the company didn't last but those jackets did'?

Pimp My Barrow
28th June 2008

We had seven barrows entered. Hamish judged them for Best Pimped and the winner went into the final race. The other six teams had to race in heats with the best eventually meeting the Best Pimped in the final.

Teams entered were:

Team Tonka
Gypsy Barrow
Team Redneck
Smurfy Barrow
Blood Barrow
English Barrow
Yellow Brick Barrow

Yellow Brick Barrow won the Best Pimped.

Smurfs won the first race (Smurfs v Rednecks v Gypsies). The Rednecks who missed a chicane had to double-back to finish the course but nevertheless beat the Gypsy Barrow which was pink and comfortable but slow and squeaky.

Blood Barrow won the second race (Blood v Tonka v English). It was close between Blood and Tonka, but the English Barrow broke. Welsh workmanship was blamed.

The Smurfs narrowly beat Blood Barrow in the Semi, and trounced the Yellow Brick Barrow in the final (thank partly to the YBB toppling over at one point in the course).

What's with that kilt in an English team?

In true redneck fashion ... no shame

The colour's an improvement ... but they don't look much like smurfs

The smug smurfy winners ...
