Who are they?

Admittedly it's a side-on image but it's from the Under 10s of about 1992 or thereabouts.  Who is he?  

He's the little nipper on the left playing with an alarm clock, or at least torturing the one on the right with it.  He was brought up on the farm which is where this picture was taken around 1956-8.
